Aerocool Aeropower II 420W PSU [Review, Bjorn3d]
I just finished reviewing the Aerocool Extreme CPU cooler a couple of weeks ago and have been ready to check out another offering from Aerocool, the Aeropower II Acrylic Series 420W Power Supply. Aerocool has brought not only a powerful but also great looking unit to the table to be put to the test. You've heard it a million times before, but I'm going to stress it once again that the PSU is one of the most important parts of your PC and that it is overlooked way too often. Well what are we waiting for, let's see what this baby can do! Wed, 17 Sep, 2003 | 74 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail
Antec TrueControl 550 [Review, Gruntville]
Until recently, the Power Supply was a bold statement of complacency. The offerings were slim and almost all were bland; offering color options of gray or gray. PSU’s have come a long way over the past year or two. Many manufacturers have entered the high-end line and given all of us a little more to consider when shopping. The end results were all fairly similar though, or appeared to be. Once the review sites decided they weren’t scared of the “Void if Removed” sticker, they started pointing out flaws in design and actually measuring the PSU’s competency. Many of the manufacturers went back to the drawing board to make sure their products performed as well as they looked. Due to the review sites getting more thorough, you now have a large variety of mods and colors along with sizes to choose from. Wed, 17 Sep, 2003 | 59 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail
Building a High Definition Home Theater PC [Guide, ExtremeTech]
The early 21st century has increasingly become the era of digital media. While the word "convergence" has come to elicit yawns among the technologically savvy, the fact is that the world of the personal computer and the world of consumer electronics is actively colliding like two massive galaxies – partly passing through each other, but also creating cataclysmic intersections that have far reaching consequences. Quakecon 2003 Coverage [Article, AMDZone]
Well Quakecon 2003 was our 5th in a row, and we were happy to finally see the event moved out of Mesquite and into Dallas where the Adams Mark provided a much larger venue. Sure there wasn't as much fast food, or cheap hotels close by, but the Mesquite Convention Center really had become quite cramped as the years passed. SilverStone Strider ST360 Power Supply [Review, HardcoreWare]
The power supply was once one of these, branded with the stigmata of being...ordinary. It wasn't too long ago that people didn't think twice about what kind of unit was supplying the juice for their rig or what it looked like and just looking at the plain silver boxes that manufacturers produced, it was rather apparent that the power supply wasn't exactly a main event. GearGrip: Painlessly Lugging Gear to and from LAN Parties [Review, TomsHardware]
Toting your gear to and from LAN parties can be a painful process, but CaseAce wants to change that. The company's GearGrip product, CaseAce says, makes less unpleasant the task of lugging, setting up, dismantling and then transporting again PC gaming systems for LAN parties. While skeptical at first, I quickly changed my mind. If you go to LAN parties, these products are just what the doctor ordered. Even if you don't go to LAN parties, these products are a big help if you move your PC system around a lot. Mon, 15 Sep, 2003 | 8 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail
SilverStone Strider SST-ST400 PSU Review [Review, TweakTown]
If you’ve been in the business of playing with the PC for any length of time, then you’ll remember that it wasn’t too long ago when the power supply was simply a necessary component for building a new machine. The amount and quality of the power flow wasn’t really an important issue and you generally didn’t worry too much about replacing one unless the old one died on you. Black Cube 450W PSU [Review, HardwareZoom]
A power supply unit can range from $20 to as much as $200, what are their differences? Most low-end casing will bundle with a 250W or 300W ATX power supply, however you get what you paid for, sometimes these power supply may not give enough power for your system. Especially when the latest CPUs and graphic cards are power hungry animals and some users may have multiple hard disks and optical drives in their system. SilverStone 400W SST-ST400 [Review, Bjorn3d]
Power hungry PC components have led the computing enthusiast to take a second look at his or her "go juice" needs. A simple 300W power supply (PSU) just doesn't cut it when you start throwing multiple hard drives, an FX 5900 Ultra, two cold cathode lights, and that blazing overclocked processor cooled with a separate water cooling kit. You never know, it might have been someone's crazy modded PC that caused the Blackout of 2003 up in the Northeast!! ;) Sat, 13 Sep, 2003 | 37 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail

i-Mate Smartphone 2002 Review [Review, Digit-Life]
Smartphones based on the Symbian (Nokia 7650/3650/9210/9210i, SonyEricsson P800), PalmOS (Handspring PDAs, e.g. Treo 600) and WindowsCE (e.g. O2-Smartphone or Qtek 1010) are pretty widespread, but devices working under the real pocket-type OS from Microsoft are not that popular yet and there are not many reviews of them even on the Net (as you know, the WindowsCE was originally written for a usual PDA and only after that was optimized for PCs with integrated GSM/CDMA modules). Today we've got the i-Mate, the first device in the form-factor of an ordinary cell phone that works under the Windows. Tue, 09 Sep, 2003 | 40 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail
Inside NVIDIA HQ [Article, Guru3d]
That day was of course filled with meetings, information and technology briefing yet we'll focus on the tour in this article. In the tour we saw the a lot of stuff, it was really amazing. I mean one of the first stops was at the NVIDIA server farm. I figured Guru3D.com is big, as it makes use of 4 servers (soon 5). Well, take a look at the images on the next pages, it's basically shock and awe. The computational power to emulate, simulate and store a chip-design goes beyond comprehension. We Have Met the Enemy, and He is Us [Editorial, ExtremeTech]
It's time for the Linux world to throw the "project" concept out the window too. Stop thinking of these development efforts as works-in-progress, and start thinking of them as products. Not in the charging money way, but in the "finish and ship" way. Linux applications need to just work. Sun, 07 Sep, 2003 | 4 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail
