  • Intel i875P Canterwood   [Review, Hexus]
The Canterwood, in summary, gives the P4 a definitive performance advantage of its arch-rival. It's also both faster and more feature rich than the present Granite-Bay motherboard. High performance has never been so easy to obtain, albeit at some cost. The pricing of retail Canterwood boards isn't yet known, but we hope that with 4-layer construction the price isn't on the wrong side of £150. Expect them to ship soon, as should a number of 200FSB P4s.

  • Gigabyte 7VAXP-A Ultra: The KT400A in Retail Action   [Review, Anandtech]
Just recently you learned about VIA’s latest Socket A chipset, the KT400A. With its improved memory controller among other performance enhancements, we had hoped the VIA KT400A would dethrone NVIDIA’s nForce2 chipset. While this clearly wasn’t the case when we reviewed a reference KT400A motherboard on March 10th, today we’re bringing you a review of a retail KT400A motherboard. Using a retail KT400A motherboard and VIA’s Hyperion 4.46 4in1 drivers, read on to see how things pan out...

  • Shuttle MN31N micro-ATX nForce2   [Review, Hexus]
It's safe to say that a well-executed motherboard based on the nForce2 chipset is going to be a decent performer. The Shuttle MN31N takes all the best bits from the nForce2 and bundles them into a micro-ATX form factor. We're still left with the all-important AGP slot and 3 PCI slots, too. It's stable, fast, and the on-board graphics work relatively well if the board is run in dual channel mode.

  • Leadtek K7NCR18G Pro   [Review, Hexus]
In fact, I only have two problems with this board, the ATX connector layout and the AGP driver issue in Linux. Both I can live with, the 2nd is even fixable. Apart from those two issues I am extremely taken with this board, Leadtek wont be getting it back if I can get away with it. It's even quite cheap, £100 from Dabs.com including VAT. I don't usually get excited about motherboards but this one doesn't put many feet wrong like so many others do. Highly recommended and one to add to your shortlist if nForce2 is your bag.

  • MSI GNB MAX2-L Granite Bay   [Review, Hexus]
As the GNB MAX2 range contain a number of different motherboards touting certain features, our sample seemed to be aimed at both the enthusiast and workstation sector. The former would appreciate the voltages on offer and the latter would view the inclusion of an Intel Gigabit network connection as a wise move. No provision for Firewire or RAID, be it S-ATA or P-ATA, precludes it from being the most feature-laden model ever, but the this MSI GNB MAX2 scored where it counted most. It was stable and fast.

  • ABIT BH7 i845PE   [Review, Hexus]
Performance-wise, running at default settings of 133FSB and 166MHz RAM, the ABIT BH7 performs just like a well-tuned i845PE motherboard. That's of no surprise as manufacturers know how to release a stable, performance-based motherboard on a mature chipset. Running the BH7 at default speeds is like driving a Porsche at 30 MPH. Sure, they'll both work fine, but you would be missing the whole point.

  • MSI 655 MAX   [Review, Hexus]
MSI are the first motherboard manufacturer we have seen to utilise the new SIS 655 Chipset. This chipset is set to give Intel’s Granite Bay a run for its money as it also features dual channel DDR memory for the Pentium 4 processor. Unlike the Granite Bay, the SIS 655 chipset allows the memory speed to be set independently from the front side bus and gives proper DDR333 capability.

I like the board, it's just hard to recommend despite the price. For the truly budget user looking to get in on some nForce2 action it's a decent board.
