ABIT IC7-Max3 (Intel 875P) [Review, HardwareZone]
Following the success of their earlier IC7-G, ABIT is back with a more powerful motherboard offering based on the latest and greatest P4 chipset, Canterwood. This 875P board comes with more than the usual fare of features as it is truly made for the power user and overclocker in mind. We're sure most of you would have caught a glimpse of the OTES cooling solution in ABIT's range of graphics cards, so it wouldn't be a surprise at all to find OTES on the motherboard. The question of how it is applied, where it is placed and why it is needed will be answered and explored shortly in the following pages. Epox EP-8KRA2+ KT600 Mobo [Review, Bit-Tech]
With the new Athlon 64's coming out and the nForce3 chipset motherboards making their debut... all bit-heads are running. But where are they going? For some, it's to the bank for a loan. For others it's from store to store looking for one that has them in stock. I'm a firm believer in getting a "r0x0r" price/performance setup. On the eve of the next AMD platform revolution a couple of things happen to the previous generation to make them more appealing. Prices drop and features increase. I love this phase of product life. This is when you get good stuff at the best possible price. Thu, 23 Oct, 2003 | 39 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail
DFI 865PE INFINITY [Review, Hexus]
DFI recently impressed us and whole bunch of other people with its LANParty range of motherboards. Packing everything that one could possibly want in a motherboard, including some weird and wonderful accessories, the LANParty series set new standards in bundles, features and, in some cases, performance. Attention to detail and funky UV-reactive ports set it out from an increasingly homogeneous crowd. Sun, 19 Oct, 2003 | 33 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail

Gigabyte K8NNXP-940: Built on Athlon64 FX51 Strengths [Review, AnandTech]
Things were quite strange in the month before the Athlon64 launch. That was about the time reviewers received first details of FX51 — the Enthusiast version of Athlon64. For those who had been following AMD's slow progress to A64 launch, it certainly looked like AMD was worried and wanted to make absolutely sure that A64 would outperform anything Intel could throw at the launch. Perhaps the EE chip info leaked to AMD, and the FX was the insurance just to make CERTAIN Athlon64 would maintain a performance lead. Perhaps AMD was concerned that lack of Dual-Channel memory support on Athlon64 might make consumers think A64 was a slower chip. It isn't, but perceptions sometimes matter more than facts. We don't know the real reason for the FX launch, but whatever the reason, it is clear that it was a last minute decision. Wed, 15 Oct, 2003 | 50 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail
Leadtek nForce2 Ultra 400 Deluxe Limited Motherboard [Review, Bjorn3d]
A little over three months ago we brought you a review of the Leadtek K7NCR18D Pro II motherboard. A quick look at Leadtek's motherboard lineup reveals that all of their nForce2-based motherboards share the WinFast K7NCR18x (x varies from board to board) name. The nForce2 Ultra400 Deluxe Limited is no exception. Even though Leadtek calls it something different on its website, the box even reveals that this motherboard is actually a K7NCR18D Pro II with a much better bundle than the original. So, this amounts to a product refresh really. I believe Leadtek is trying to grab the attention of the enthusiast audience by adding such goodies as rounded cables, faster FSB support, and extra voltage tweaking capabilities. Nvidia nForce 3 Pro 150: Chaintech ZNF3-150 Zenith [Review, AMDZone]
Well Chaintech has thrown in everything but the kitchen sink. Overclocking options, additional CPU area cooling, extra heatsink mounting holes, SATA RAID, 8 channel audio, Gigabit Ethernet, memory reader, and LED diagnostics make it the top accessorized nForce 3 board we have tested. Stability was good, and performance was on par with the other boards. Wed, 15 Oct, 2003 | 109 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail

Abit IC7-MAX3 [Review, SubZeroTech]
I have personally known Abit as a company since back in the BX days, when their BX motherboard was really the first to offer maximum overclocking potential at a good price with stunning performance. It really was THE board to have back then for a few reasons. It was versatile and totally stable. Everyone who had such a board loved it, in fact just recently one of my friends finally got rid of his. Not because he didn't like it, but because after years on end it finally passed away. It seems that Abit has been producing the same quality boards for some time now, many trademark stable overclockers. But up until now it doesn't seem like they have produced another one of those "signature" boards for the 875 chipset series. This is where the MAX3 comes in… Mon, 13 Oct, 2003 | 75 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail
Shuttle's AN50R motherboard [Review, Tech-Report]
As an alternative to its pint-sized XPC SN85G4 for 754-pin Athlon 64 processors, Shuttle is serving up the AN50R, a full-sized ATX board based on NVIDIA's nForce3 chipset. The AN50R isn't cute or cuddly, and it's not the size of a breadbox. However, the board will fit in a wide variety of spacious, drive bay-rich ATX cases with plenty of room to spare. For enthusiasts unwilling to part with multiple PCI cards, hard disks, or optical drives, the AN50R has the potential to be a pretty sweet Athlon 64 platform. Does it deliver? Read on to find out. Chaintech 7NJS Ultra ZENITH (nForce2 Ultra 400) [Review, HardwareZone]
When it comes to the most bountiful motherboard package, there is hardly any contender that dare stand against the Chaintech ZENITH series. Sitting on the retail shelves, they are easy to identify with their unusually large and eye-catching box design. Early this year, we reviewed the Chaintech 7NJS ZENITH (based on the NVIDIA nForce2 chipset) that pampered us with a wealth of goodies. Nvidia nForce 3 Pro 150: Shuttle AN50R Review [Review, AMDZone]
The CPU socket uses AMD's new retention mechanism with a metal plate on the back bolting it in. It will be harder to find a more secure heatsink retention method. Below the socket are the bulk of the capacitors and voltage regulators in the area. A 4 pin power connector is just to the bottom right of the socket, and while the board will power up with a 3200+ without it plugged in the more power the better particularly if overclocking. ABIT IC7 MAX3 [Review, LostCircuits]
The new trick is actually not new after all, the MAX series within ABIT's repertoire has already lost its revolutionary touch and is more of a compromise now than the first examples were then - stripped totally of any legacy support, including the PS/2 connectors. Accept the compromise, and only leave out the parallel and serial legacy, change the PCB color to black and slap on a better-designed active cooler on the MCH and there is a barebones idea for the latest spawn of the IC7 family. Replace the venerable HIP6301CB voltage controller with the more sophisticated ISL6556BCB from the same manufacturer and stick the entire VRM into a windtunnel-like design that blows the hot air out of the case, and all of a sudden, the little pieces are falling together to create an entirely new sensation of what a mainboard could look like.
