  • ABIT KV8-MAX3: Athlon64 and µGuru   [Review, AnandTech]
Abit has made quite a splash lately with their µGuru, or micro Guru, chip for system monitoring, on-the-fly overclocking and more. One of the boards launched with the µGuru features is Abit's top-of-the-line KV8-Max3. The KV8 is an Athlon64 board, which means, at least for now, that it will use either the VIA K8T800 chipset or the nVidia nForce3 150. “For now” only means that the SiS755 chipset for Athlon64 is also near launch and AnandTech will be taking a look at the SiS755 Reference Board very soon. Abit uses the VIA chipset on this Max series board.

  • DFI Infinity 865PE Motherboard Review   [Review, HotHardware]
Historically, DFI has focused more on developing basic motherboards strong on functionality and stability, leaving the flashy presentations and excessive bundles to motherboard manufacturers that cater to the enthusiast set. But recently the company has undergone a bit of a metamorphosis, moving from bland to grand, with the release of their LAN Party line of motherboards, as well as their brown bag equivalents. Clearly, DFI felt it was time to get into the mainstream arena and challenge some of the old dogs on the block.

  • VIA K8T800: Asus SK8V Review   [Review, AMDZone]
Asus was the first out of the gate with Athlon Opteron/Athlon 64 FX motherboard with an AGP slot. While the SK8N was based on the Nvidia nForce 3 chipset they now offer the SK8V based on VIA's K8T800 chipset which is quite similar to the K8V Deluxe we have already reviewed. Today we look at that board, and compare it to several based on the nForce 3 chipset.

  • Albatron K8X800 Pro II   [Review, LegionHardware]
Recently, I reviewed the Gigabyte K8VNXP employing the VIA K8T800 chipset. This was the first AMD Athlon64 supportive motherboard to appear on Legion Hardware. Since then I have been eager to test other boards based on the K8T800 chipset in particular. Already the K8T800 is a proven product for both the Opteron and Athlon64 processors. The performance of this chipset, with dual Opteron 244 processors utilizing two 940-pin Sockets on the MSI K8T Master-2-FAR, was remarkable. The results when using the K8T800 with a 754-pin Athlon64 processor were just as remarkable. The K8T800 has demonstrated that it is a highly flexible solution for AMD’s entire range of 64-bit processors.

  • Albatron KM18G Pro   [Review, DevHardware]
CHUN, a Taiwan based hardware manufacturer known primarily for their display devices, decided in 2002 that they needed a bit of a face lift. The company changed its name to Albatron Technology and added motherboards to their offerings. Sweet mother of overclocking! Did it make an impact! On the grill today we have the Albatron KM18G Pro micro-ATX motherboard, based on the nForce2 chipset. Let's dig in and see if this little guy can perform up to the levels of other Albatron-released motherboards.

  • Albatron PX865PE Lite Pro i848P Motherboard Review   [Review, PCStats]
Well for one, a motherboard based on the newly introduced Intel i848P chipset could work. The i848P's feature set is almost identical to that of the i865PE except for one thing, there is only one 64 bit memory controller instead of two. That means the i848P has half the bandwidth of the i865PE at any given time, and is more suitably targeted towards value conscious consumers.

  • ASUS K8V Deluxe   [Review, LostCircuits]
The Athlon64 has finally hit the stores, so have a few mainboards based on either the VIA K8T800 chipset or else on the nVidia nForce2 core logic. After looking at the Athlon64 FX-51 with its dual memory controllers and a price point that almost matches its 940 pins, we are taking a long look at the home edition of AMD's 64-bit processor, conveniently dubbed Athlon64 and a price point at slightly over ½ of its 754 pins.

  • AMD Opteron For Low-End Servers : Tyan’s Tomcat K8S   [Review, GamePC]
AMD's Opteron has made significant inroads in the workstation market in its short time on the market, not to mention that it also making serious headway in the gaming scene as well (under the Athlon64 FX pseudo-name). Despite the fact that Opteron processors are still fairly expensive, they are quickly becoming the processor of choice for high-end users who need stability and the best possible performance, while Intel's Xeon processors are losing their appeal due to aging core components, despite their high clock speeds.

  • MSI KT6 Delta-FIS2R (VIA KT600)
Socket-A nForce2 motherboards are quite reasonably priced these days, and the situation can only get better with the recent introduction of Socket-754 motherboards for the new Athlon 64 processors. However, the VIA KT600 motherboards released not long ago are available at even more affordable price-points than the nForce2. In fact, the accompanying VIA VT8237 Southbridge is even more up-to-date than the nForce2 MCP-T Southbridge. A notable downside of the VIA KT600 is its single-channel memory support versus the nForce2 Ultra 400 SPP’s dual-channel memory support. This does leave a performance differential on the VIA platform (especially in games), but for most other general use, the VIA KT600 can hold its own against the nForce2 Ultra 400.

  • ABIT KV8-MAX 3 K8T800 Athlon 64 Socket 754 Mainboard Review   [Review, OCWorkBench]
Nowadays, a mainboard is no longer just a mainboard with overclocking features. ABIT, being one of the most innovative manufacturers has again deliver something that is extraordinary. Do you still remember OTES (Outside Thermal Exhaust System) ? It first appeared on the ABIT Ti4200 graphics card and DiGiDice. Now it is on the KV8-MAX3. With the O.T.E.S, the MOSFETs and capacitors are cooled down during extreme overclocking as that portion of the board is one of the hottest spots.

  • DFI Infinity 865PE and CMOS Reloaded Part 2   [Review, SubZeroTech]
I am quite glad that I have given this board some time to develop a mature BIOS. When I first had this board before it was publicly released at COMDEX a short while ago I was taken back by the price-point and the available features for the given bracket. This however was dampened by the fact that I could not get the board to overclock at all initially. This was also what happened with the DFI 875 Lanparty REV.A board (which later went on to great things, and FSB’s of 280 ). My frustrations, believe you me, were let known to the engineers at DFI headquarters in Taiwan, as well as their tech support members. Needless to say everyone was working frantically.

  • Gigabyte K8VNXP   [Review, LegionHardware]
At the heart of Gigabyte’s newest products you will stumble upon the K8VNXP. The K8VNXP is one of the first motherboards based around VIA’s recently released K8T800 chipset. The K8T800 chipset is designed to support the latest AMD64 processors. The AMD64 processor line is quite exciting as the Athlon64 has provided a great deal of competition for the new Intel Pentium 4 EE processors. Then you have the chipset war currently being fought out by VIA and NVIDIA, though it seems as if it could be an easy victory for VIA. This is because NVIDIA are struggling to provide the market with enough chipsets, where as VIA has already saturated the market. During Computex 2003, VIA Ceo Wen-chi explained at the AMD64 launch that VIA has produced more K8T800 chipsets than AMD will be able to produce processors by the end of 2003.
