Shuttle AN50R nForce3 Motherboard [Review, LostCircuits]
Being the market leader in the small form factor domain, does not preclude Shuttle from building other, full size mainboards. Even if this genre is starting to slowly fade away, there is still a healthy interest, especially in the new Athlon64 platform. Currently, the two main players in his particular arena are nVidia with their Crush K8 or nForce3-150 chipset and VIA with their K8T800 chipset. ASUS has a VIA board, Abit has a VIA board, Gigabyte has an nVidia board and Shuttle has an nVidia board, too. Mon, 08 Dec, 2003 | 40 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail

Soltek have arguably produced the least expensive Athlon64 motherboard on the market with their SL-K8AN-RL. Albatron PX865PE Lite Pro vs. Asus P4P800S-E [Review, HotHardware]
Our first two samples come from Albatron, with their PX865PE Lite Pro motherboard, and Asus' P4P800S-E. The names of each of these boards sounds similar to their Springdale versions, the 865PE Pro II and the P4P800 Deluxe. Although somewhat misleading, this nomenclature correctly suggests that the boards share their structure with their more powerful cousins. Our only complaint was with Albatron's inclusion of 865 in the title, as some users may assume that the board is a Springdale, which it is not. These two boards are specifically designed to fill a value or budget niche for each company, although the roads taken are somewhat different. Read on below for a quick check on the i848P and then let's take a closer look at each of these boards. Wed, 03 Dec, 2003 | 65 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail
AOpen AK79D-400 Max (nForce2 Ultra 400) [Review, HardwareZone]
The AMD Athlon 64 has arrived but unlike the strong hype and discussion surrounding the product, the actual take up rate is anything but brisk because of the high costs and as well as limited availability for the time being. For now, it is very much relegated to those with big pockets and extreme gamers. Currently, an Athlon 64 motherboard and CPU combo can set you back as much as three times that of a mid-range Socket-A motherboard with a sub 2500+ CPU model. Even with a sub 3000+ CPU model, the change to an Athlon 64 platform would be twice as expensive. Till they are more affordable, the majority of users targeting at affordable setups on the AMD platform would opt for existing Socket-A motherboards and CPUs that make more economical sense. MSI K8T Neo-FIS2R Athlon64 Motherboard [Review, Bjorn3d]
Even though there are no 64-bit applications or games currently available, AMD is hoping with its recent release of Athlon64 processors that many enthusiasts are excited about the potential of 64-bit computing. I think most of us are excited for one reason or another. Maybe you hope AMD falls flat on its face, or maybe you hope this is one more dent in Intel's plan to rule the processor market. We're all anxious to see what 64-bit operating systems and 64-bit games will be like compared to their 32-bit counterparts. Sat, 22 Nov, 2003 | 160 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail
nForce II Ultra 400 Roundup [Roundup, Digital-Daily]
Some time ago, we tested four motherboards based on the first revision of the nForce II chipset. Although the performance level was pretty high, it was evident that the chipset proved to be a bit raw. First, that applied to the operational stability in the dual-channel synchronous mode at the bus speed around 200 MHz. Only few motherboards were able to run in this mode albeit with all the overclocking options enabled (e.g., Vdd voltage raised on the NF7-S). ABIT KV7 (KT600) Mainboard [Review, OverclockerCafe]
The emergence of the VIA KT600 chipset was an attempt to pick up the gauntlet thrown down by NVidia and their nForce2. The KT600 offers improvement over its predecessors in the way of official support of chips using a 400MHz front side bus, VIA’s VT1616 codec for improved audio performance, increased V-Link to 1066MHz (up from 533HMz) and native SATA ports thanks to the VIA VT8238 South Bridge. So as you can see there are several improvements with the latest generation VIA board. The central question is 'sure, all the extra stuff is nice but will the KT600 be able to compete and beat out the nForce2?' Sat, 15 Nov, 2003 | 61 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail

Gigabyte GA-7VT600-1394 Motherboard [Review, TweakTown]
With the AMD64 CPU now starting to make its appearance into the consumer markets, it is easy to forget that there still is a more cost affective CPU from AMD at the moment; though one would think it would be hard to forget the AMD Athlon CPU. Ever since the introduction of the original 500MHz Slot A CPU, it has caused Intel some great discomfort. In fact, AMD at one stage had the first CPU running 1GHz and the fastest CPU on the market for over a month. Sat, 15 Nov, 2003 | 48 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail
