Corsair XMS TWINX2048-PC4400PRO 2GB Dual Channel Kit [Review, InsaneTek]
It is quite amazing how games can make upgrading your computer hardware an absolute necessity. Nonetheless, memory companies have realized this and have been desperately searching for memory ICs capable of high overclocks. There are a lot of memory parts being released with a PC4000 rating, but those also come with loose latencies. That certainly cannot be helped since high density ICs are less likely to run at tight timings. Corsair's latest 2GB dual channel kit comes with the highest speed rating of all--PC4400 with latencies of 3-4-4-8. Exciting, isn't it? OCZ Technology EL-DDR PC3500 Gold GX Memory Review [Review, PCStats]
When it comes to computers based on AMD Athlon64 processors, the topic of whether it's better to equip the system with low latency or high bandwidth (high speed) DDR memory is still being hotly debated. I've been a low latency buff myself for quite a long time, and currently of the mind set that the bandwidth option only comes into play at very high memory speeds.... This means that for those of you who like to run your computers overclocked moderately, you'd probably be better off with lower latency memory modules. Patriot Memory PDC1G5600ELK PD5600 DDR Memory Review [Review, PCStats]
With the sheer quantity of high-speed DDR memory modules available right now, one would be forgiven for thinking that JEDEC, the body governing the standards of this industry, had set the memory speed limit much higher than the 'PC3200' standard. It hasn't actually. This void has created an interesting question; since there is no standard for memory manufacturers to adhere to past PC3200, should manufacturers begin making platform specific high-speed memory? For the most part, the majority of Intels' current chipsets are DDR-2 only. Faced with a drop in demand from the absence of Intel-based customers, memory manufacturers have begun 'performance tuning' DDR memory modules for specific AMD platforms. The recent explosion of memory modules built with Winbond "UTT" (Untested) DRAM is a good indication of where things are headed, and that there is still plenty of life in the DDR market. OCZ Value Pro PC2-4200 2GB Dual Channel Kit [Review, insanetek]
Running expensive enthusiast memory is not always needed to increase system
performance. Having larger system virtual memory is
also beneficial. OCZ's Value Pro 2GB kit will not break your wallet and will
still overclock. Thu, 22 Sep, 2005 | 11 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail
Crucial Ballistix Tracer DDR PC4000 [Review, techpowerup]
Crucial is a division of micron. They build their own Chips and PCB, not like all the other manufacturers who have the DDR-Ram only soldered together and referred their chips and PCBs by other manufacturers. On the Tracer PC4000 are also unique leds for a good look. Although Crucial/Micron is not normally known as overlocking ram we will do an extreme overclocking test with high voltages and try to find out if they are a good alternative to Ram with Samsung TCCDs or low latency like Winbond UTT BH-5/CH-5. OCZ DDR Booster Mod [Article, Hardware.GamersHell]
This 'mod' aims to provide a more stable voltage supply for the OCZ DDR Booster and the RAM that it is supplying.
OCZ's DDR Booster is a great overclocking tool. However, it has some limitations. One of these is the fact that the voltage that it is supplying tends to drop under load by up to 0.1v (or more) in some cases. This can cause instability due to fluctuating voltages. This mod aims to reduce this voltage drop, possibly to as little as 0.01v (a tenth of the drop of an unmodded booster). Sun, 04 Sep, 2005 | 14 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail
Performance Impact on Chaning Memory Size from 1GByte to 2 GByte [Article, Corsair]
We were very eager to run testing on Battlefield 2, as current user feedback indicated that this game performed much better with larger amounts of memory. As expected, the increase in memory array size from 1 GByte to 2 GByte had a very substantial performance impact on this game. We found that this to be the case regardless of processor platform, as well as regardless of screen resolution. Sat, 03 Sep, 2005 | 25 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail

On display in the Lubic Case was a pre-production sample of Kingston's HyperX
DDR2 1000MHz memory. This memory is so new that it isn't yet on the Kingston

2048 MB DDR Shoot Out [Roundup, AMDzone]
I try to keep up to date on what questions are being asked in various forums and noticed a trend in the last few weeks. I have picked up on the interest and the confusion that two gigabytes of memory can bring. With almost every memory company now offering single gigabyte memory modules and very few memory reviews of them, the lack of information is frustrating. So in order to help our memory hungry builders, I sent out requests to every memory company who sells gigabyte DDR PC3200+ modules so that AMD builders can equip our dual channels systems with a full gigabyte of memory. G.Skill F1-4800DSU2-1GBFR DDR600 2T [Review, xtremeresources]
A very popular name in the overclocking RAM market lately is that of G.Skill. Although some might have heard of G.Skill only recently, G.Skill is actually one of the oldest manufacturers around, established back in 1989. Lately they made a big entrance in the enthusiasts market by releasing several high end RAM modules, mostly using select Samsung TCCD chips. Their modules, despite the very simple looks (not even a heat-spreader is used most of the time) and featuring an aggressive price compared to others managed to outperform most of the competition with ease. Today I have a new package from G.Skill for testing, the F1-4800DSU2-1GBFR, which consists of two 512MB modules and is rated for 2.5/8/4/4 2T timings at 300 MHz (600 MHz DDR). This package is one of the most aggressively priced packages on the market right now, rivaling even the price/performance ratio of basic value RAM modules. Since it also features Samsung TCCD chips like the more expensive packages from G.Skill, let us see how it can fare while overclocking.
