Quote: Recently, it appears that the individuals behind the SETI@Home project were nice enough to compile of version of their client for the x86-64 platform. This brings up quite a few questions regarding performance, especially considering that the Opteron is both a 64-bit processor and has twice as many GPR and SIMD (MMX/3DNow/SSE/SSE2) registers.
