Quote: Although ATI finally announced their latest series of boards with the X1000 series earlier last month, the high end X1800 was very much delayed from its expected delivery time, and as such ATI had to rely on their older high end boards a while longer. However, with suddenly unexpectedly high yields, and an unfavourable competitive environment, suddenly a glut of chips were on hand, more than they could reasonably move. From these chips new, cheaper products were formed in the shape of the 8 pipelined X800 GT and the 12 pipelined GTO. Here we take a look at the last hurrah of ATI’s X800 series with two GTO products from Sapphire; the Sapphire Radeon X800 GTO˛ and X800 GTO Ultimate Edition both have the same basic specifications, but are both catered towards distinctly different users.
