Snazzed Up and Cooled Down : Silverstone’s Lascala LC-04 [Review, GamePC]
The Lascala LC-04's main features is its small aluminum alloy body, which features full-sized ATX motherboard compatability, giving the case the ability to support fairly high-end components. Silverstone has made some interesting modifications to their designs in order to make the Lascala LC-04 more attractive to modern consumers, including improving airflow to major components, utilizing a lower noise power supply, and cleaning up their external appearance by adding front bezel doors. SilverStone's Lascala SST-LC01 enclosure [Review, TechReport]
SMALL FORM FACTOR platforms are great for home theater PCs, but there are times when nothing less than a full ATX enclosure will do. Don't get me wrong. I love those little cubes as much as the next guy—maybe even more. However, there's no getting around the limited expansion capabilities, proprietary power supplies, and premium prices associated with most small form factor systems. Smaller form factors can also struggle to maintain low noise levels under load, making them less than ideal for home theater systems that do a little Folding@Home and media encoding on the side. Enermax EG325AX-VE 320W PSU [Review, BigBruin]
Every computer needs to have a power supply. But which power supply you use could determine if you have enough power, or whether that power is clean and steady. As with about every other piece of computer hardware, there are many choices, offering different features. Today I will take a look at the EG325AX-VE (G)/(W) SFMA 320W Noisetaker provided to BigBruin.Com for review by Maxpoint. Currently I’m using the OEM power supply that came with my case. It’s a cheap power supply that is fairly loud, and produces a lot of heat. Let’s see if the Enermax is a good replacement. Tue, 11 May, 2004 | 44 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail
Antec's P160 ATX case [Review, TechReport]
ANTEC CASES AND I GO BACK a long way. I purchased their KS-188 full tower back in January of 1999, and since then I've always housed my main machine in an Antec case. Currently, I'm using an SX-1030 to house my components. Tue, 04 May, 2004 | 121 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail
Chenming 602 Entry Level Server Case [Review, SystemCooling]
When Chenming introduced their ATX 601AE entry level server case a few years ago, they couldn't have known that it was destined to become the most popular and most modded case of all time. If this model number doesn't ring any bells, try thinking of the Antec SX1040, or the Chieftec Dragon. Aside from those two, the 601 has been offered under literally dozens of different names, in an entire spectrum of colors, with pre-modded options from mild to wild. Today, we're looking at the next generation of Chenming entry level server case, the 602. It has a number of features lacking in the 601, some of which you've seen on other cases already, such as the Antec Lanboy, and still others that are unique to this model. So, without further adieu, let's take a closer look. Tue, 04 May, 2004 | 115 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail
Comscom Think Tank Case [Review, SystemCooling]
Recently we were contacted by a company named Comscom out of Korea, and asked if we would like to review one of their cases. Well, being the reviewing animals that we are, we said "sure, send it along!" Though I'd never heard of Comscom, looking at their history via their website shows that they have been in business since 2000, and have been in attendance at many trade shows such as Comdex, Computex and Cebit. The case they sent us is called the Think Tank and has a few surprises in store for us. So let's see how they compare to the standards we all come to expect here at Systemcooling.com. Lian Li PC-V1000 Aluminum Case [Review, Overclockercafe]
The name Lian Li is synonymous with high performance, high feature, aluminum computer cases. In this respect, the new PC-V1000 is no different than its siblings. However, the Lian Li PC-V1000 is something decidedly different than what we are used to seeing in case design. Several improvements have been well thought out and implemented in Lian Li's newest box. For starters, the mainboard is inverted and the power supply rests on the floor of the case. Several of the other new features we will soon show you are more than likely going to raise an eyebrow or two with that "why didn't anyone think of that before?" kind of look. Silverstone Temjin SST-TJ02 Case [Review, Overclockercafe]
In the past several months Silverstone has come on strong and steady with several new offerings that are unique in appearance from their competitors. While appearance can be a very important factor in choosing a case, it still has to come in second to functionality and construction.
What we have on the bench today is the Temjin SST-TJ02 midtower case. Silver in color, this Temjin sports a few neat little features that you just might find very attractive. Fri, 30 Apr, 2004 | 58 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail

Thermaltake Xaser V Damier V6000A [Review, Neoseeker]
Now in its fourth refresh, the Xaser line undergoes another transformation to stay ahead of the market for aluminium cases. The case we have for review today is the V6000A, which is the top-of-the-line case out of this year's offerings from Thermaltake. Although the Xaser Vline is advertised to be offered in black, blue and silver, only the silver is all-aluminium; the black and blue are hybrid steel + aluminium cases. This situation is not ideal for people who want a black aluminum case or for those who want a silver case and finding that it costs a lot more than its counterparts. But we digress. Thermaltake LanMoto Case [Review, LegionHardware]
The high-end case market has become much more competitive since we began to see the first few ultra expensive Lian-Li brushed aluminum cases. Before Lian-Li made their début, cases were generally quite plain and simple. The available colors ranged from beige to beige with the black Dell cases being the exception. However, today cases of all colors, shapes and sizes are available and the list of possible features has become quite extensive. From the time that I remember seeing the first Lian-Li case to now, the market really has changed. Big name manufacturers that generally dealt in the cooling business saw the case market as a good way to raise more revenue. Thu, 29 Apr, 2004 | 38 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail

Every few months, we see a new face in the market take a stab at the lucrative small form factor PC market. CasEdge Diabolic "Minotaur" [Review, Gruntville]
A company called CaseEdge developed a case called the Diabolic Minotaur. In Greek Mythology, the Minotaur was a savage and horrendous half-man & half-bull, killed by Theseus. A labyrinth was created where the Minotaur was hidden, allowing him to survive off of the flesh of those given to him in sacrifice. PC Case Roundup [Roundup, ExtremeTech]
A lot of ink has been spilled debating the merits of various components inside our PCs. CPUs, motherboards, video cards, hard drives – they all inspire countless articles and arguments. Sometimes the most basic PC component -- the enclosure that houses all the others -- gets short shrift. When you think about it, it's really one of the most important pieces of any PC. Aspire X-Infinity Case [Review, EnvyNews]
It was just before Halloween last year that we examined the Aspire X-Alien Aluminum Case. This aluminum full tower case is still my favorite case today. The Cheiftech / Chenming based cases are always top-notch cases and get awards everywhere they go. And Aspire likes to do things just slightly different. They included green LED fans while most other manufacturers have blue, and they also had a rare “blow hole” in the top of that case. Antec P160 Aluminum Case [Review, Bit-Tech]
Antec have been around for a while now and have established themselves to be quite a bit of a standard for case construction, popular with both server builders and PC-do-it-yourselfers. Various models of cases have come out with over the years with little to no deviation from their basic "SOHO" case (which has evolved into what is know as the "performance line"). Others would recognize it as the Chieftec "Dragon". Sure, they have come out with small ones, tall ones, but pretty much the same trademark look on the outside and the solid construction within. Lately, they have been making unexpected gambles with their tried & true designs, taking them into new and interesting directions. The first step was a small but significant one when they made an aluminum version of their classic design. Then the lanboy and super lanboy, and now the P160.
