  • CM Praetorian 730 & Musketeer 3   [Review, bit-tech]
Today, we take a look at another Cooler Master model, the Praetorian 730. You might recall we looked at the 731 Model already and may be asking yourself "What’s the point? Aren't they nearly identical?" Well, in some respects you’d be right (like you always are) - but there are a few critical differences. The 731 is a European exclusive, and our baby we have today is one for the Yanks. To show just one of the colour choices available, we got this one in a stylish matt black.

  • SilverStone SG01   [Review, InsaneTek]
Gamers rejoiced when Shuttle introduced their SFF systems. The lightweight and portability of the small systems gave gamers no reasons not to attend a LAN party. Instead of lugging around a huge steel tower, gamers can walk around with an LCD in one hand and their SFF in the other. The performance of Shuttle's SFF puppies did not disappoint either. The only thing that was lacking would have been the overclocking department. The overclocking options were limited and for those who overclock, it was a big turn-off. Some case companies have realized that the demand for smaller form cases are rising and they have created their solutions to accommodate the needs of both gamers and overclockers. SilverStone is one of those companies.

  • HSPC Tech Station   [Review, PimpRig]
They not only built a tech station, they built a better tech station, and have continued to improve on the design since its inception. Instead of a metal frame, Highspeed opted for various non-conductive plastics. The only metal in the HSPC tech station are the screws used to hold it together. And rather than relying on gravity to hold components in place, the HSPC station uses a rubber stand-off system that can be secured with a couple of nylon wing nuts, a plexiglas rail system for drives and a agp/pci rail to keeps cards in place.

  • THERMALTAKE TENOR DESIGNER HOME THEATER ATX COMPUTER CASE   [Review, tweaknews]
With the explosion of the home theatre market in the past decade or so, it was inevitable that the personal computer would enter the fray at some point. After all, a well-designed PC with the proper hardware can do the work of a myriad of home theatre components, and do it as well or better than all but the most high-end equipment. So, where do you find one of these magic boxes that will solve all your home entertainment problems? If you’re like a lot of PC enthusiasts, you build it yourself. One of the first decisions anyone contemplating a project like this will have to make will be to choose a chassis to put all the goodies into. While some folks would be content with having a big, beige computer case sitting in the living room, a significant segment of this group wants something more sleek and stylish. Some of the small form factor cases on the market would seem to be a good choice here, but most of these offer limited flexibility with respect to motherboard, power supply and drive choices.

  • Antec's Quiet, Top-Notch PC Chassis - P180   [Review, PCWorld]
Most do-it-yourself PC builders spend a load on high-end components--and then unwisely skimp on the case. For those willing to spend a bit more, Antec offers its new P180 Advanced Super Mid Tower. Well-crafted and sporting a unique internal design, this $159 silver-and-black chassis should satisfy even the most discerning computer builder. Antec designed the P180 to please both performance nuts and silence seekers. Wrapped in a shell of noise-dampening plastic and metal, the 31-pound case features a solid, double-hinged door that conveniently swings out of the way (a brilliant, albeit small, touch), as well as three speed-adjustable Antec TriCool chassis fans that provide plenty of low-noise cooling.

  • Antec P180 Advanced Super Mid-Tower Review   [Review, legitreviews]
In the end, the P180 is one of the finest cases I've ever seen. With a heavy emphasis placed on sound suppression and cooling, the P180 should be the case to that all others will be judged against until we finally see what BTX has to offer.

  • Enermax Galaxy - 1000W PSU - Short Preview   [Preview, Hexus]
Enermax, those crazy power supply dudes have gone power mad with their latest bit of kit, the Galaxy. Set to be available in the UK from around October, the Galaxy is the first PSU to the retail market claiming to be able to deliver 1000W…. yes, you read that right, 1000W. Currently in final production at the time of writing, the two samples in the photos are engineering samples so we couldn’t get out hands on one for testing, but having run the figures past Rys, they add up to just a little over 1000W output, drawing 1400W from the mains… so no need for a dimmer switch in the lounge anymore!

  • Quiet PC/Zalman TNN 300 System   [Review, Hexus]
Summarising the Quiet PC/TNN 300 system is quite simple, really. It's a niche product that will appeal, in no uncertain terms, to a select bunch of users that value silence above all else. If you happen to be one of them, the TNN 300 is a pretty unique product that will appeal to you. For the rest who don't mind the noise made by a few fans, you'll wonder what the fuss is about. We try to view products in relation to how well they fit their intended purposes. In that case, then, the Quiet PC/Zalman TNN 300 system is a well-executed idea with significant practical benefits to the right type of buyer.

  • Cooler Master Praetorian 731 - Tower Case   [Review, TrustedReviews]
The last time I reviewed a tower case, I was disappointed that the aluminium used for its attractive front fascia wasn’t then also used for the rest of the chassis. Thankfully that’s not the case (excuse the pun) with the Praetorian 731 – one of the latest boxes from the PC builder’s favourite, Cooler Master. Yes that’s correct. The entire shell is either machined or pressed from aluminium, a metal with properties that seem ideal for a PC case. Not only is it light, but in terms of thermal conductivity it’s some three to four times higher than that of steel. Obviously, this is an assessment of aluminium’s conductivity depending on the temperature gradient that exists across a certain thickness of aluminium and of course the quantity of heat that is transmitted.

  • AOpen Nouveau - Tower Case   [Review, TrustedReviews]
Finding the right case in which to build your PC is never easy. The first question you need to ask yourself is whether you want a small form factor box or tower, and if you go for the latter, the choice is positively dizzying. AOpen has been making system cases and the components that go inside them for a very long time, so I fully expected the Nouveau to be a shining example of case design and construction. Unfortunately, those expectations proved to be unfounded, and although the Nouveau sports some solid features, it also exhibits some poor design attributes.

  • EPower Silent Engine Xscale-470 Power Supply Unit   [Article, TomsHardware]
The power supply unit tested now belongs to the category of candidates, which because of their performance level (470 watts), are very often sold in retail stores. Among its particularities is the ventilation control, which can be adjusted to individual needs by means of a three-level slide switch. The ventilator speed can be adjusted using the settings "auto," "middle" and "low" - during the stress test we are using the setting "auto". This is not necessarily proof of high quality: When the power supply unit was unpacked, two screws that serve to attach the switch became loose. Considering the fact that vibrations occur during operation due to the ventilation, the switch can rapidly develop a mind of its own.

  • Lian-Li PC-V1200 Aluminum Extended ATX Case Review   [Review, Bjorn3d]
For a long time, some Bjorn3D staff members have been big fans of Lian-Li cases. I myself had never had one before and just heard the guys rave about them and read our review of the Lian-Li PC-V1000 case. The problem I have always found in looking for a case is NVIDIA graphics cards seem to be long, and, with cards coming out with dual NVIDIA GPU's on one card, I knew they were going to be longer yet. I am sure many of you faced the graphics card power leads smashing up against the hard drive in your efforts at one time or another.
