  • QuietPC Nexus PHT-3600   [Review, SubZeroTech]
It’s hard to cut it in the jungle of aftermarket Pentium 4 heat sinks. Intel provides such a very large, attractive, effective and easy to install heat sink that your average computer user and even many of the performance minded have little incentive to replace it. Even overclockers can easily manage with the stock heat sink. Fortunately for the consumer, the quality of the Intel heat sink has forced the aftermarket companies to go back to the drawing board, giving us a new generation of aftermarket heat sinks with many desirable characteristics custom tailored for many different sorts of enthusiasts. In this review, I will examine just such a heat sink. Skivetek designed the new Nexus PHT-3600 with quiet, high volume airflow in mind, and we’ll see if it lives up to its promises.

Remember back in the mid-80's, an animated show called Voltron? Well, every time I glance at the brilliantly-blue backlit "Z" on the front of the Raidmax Scorpio 868 case that is the first thing that pops into my head...

  • ThermalTake Xaser III   [Review, Gruntville]
Thermaltake has been a blessing for computer enthusiasts for quite some time. They’ve been one of the first to market an enormous amount of cooling products that are now staples. Hardly a stick of high-performance memory is sold without heat spreaders. I doubt there are many tweakers that haven't owned one of their Orb products. Heck, the Blue Orb was so popular it aquired the nickname; Blorb. Sounds like something off a Star Trek episode but if it’s mentioned in the forums, we all know what is being referred to….that is unless you’re in a Sci-fi forum.

  • Thermaltake Xaser Silent Purepower™ + PFC 480W PSU Review   [Review, 3dXtreme]
Today 3dXtreme has the great pleasure of reviewing a new product from Thermaltake, the Silent Purepower 480 Watt Power Supply. This Power Supply features PFC - PFC stands for Power Factor Correction and can be described as using series capacitors to “remove” the effect of leakage inductance that limits the output current. PFC can provide more efficient Power Frequency; in lay terms it means less power is lost.

  • Aspire X-Dreamer II Case   [Review, Overclockercafe]  Most popular reviews and articles
Anyone who has read my reviews kn1ows that I'm a sucker for some good solid bargain stuff. A few months back I had the chance to review a case made by AspireUSA as one of their line of budget cases, the X-Dreamer. Today I'm back with the sequel to that particular case, the X-Dreamer II. As we all know, sequels for the most part do not live up to the original (at least in the world of movies anyway). So today we're going to check and see if the X-Dreamer can break the mold and what they've added to an already kick butt bargain case.

  • Codegen Group Cases   [Review, nextgenelectronics]
The CG 6072-CAW is a very respectable way to save money. It's a black mid-tower case with a great design. The front of the case sports 4 drive bays, and two floppy drive bays (for those of you who still use them). To dress it up the front is outlined with a silver trim and on the lower front is a green acrylic panel that really dresses the case up. To keep the front looking sharp the front side usb and firewall (available but not installed) have been moved just around the corner on the lower right hand side.

  • Thermaltake LANFIRE (VM2000A)   [Review, Overclockercafe]
Thermaltake has never been one to be left behind in a niche market. With that said, they have released what they are calling their LANFIRE case. Basically a pint sized version of the standard Xaser III case. When I say pint sized I mean it. Coming in at 4kg and approximately 25% smaller than the Xaser III, you can see what I mean. Thanks to the good folks out at Thermaltake we have one of their new LANFIRE cases up on the bench to see what's what. Let's start off with the white paper.

  • THG and the PC Case Factory   [Article, TomsHardware]
Many of our readers have written us with the same request: "Can you please explain how computer cases are created?" Purchasers and users of computer cases shop at their local retailers or shop online, yet have no idea how a case goes through the process of conception to design to finished product. And, unless you are an industry insider or work for an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) who orders custom or specific cases to build their systems in, it is not likely that you would be familiar with the complex process that is required to produce a computer case.

  • GlobalWIN SAF420 Power Supply   [Review, EnvyNews]
Enter the Global WIN SAF420, a power supply that looks quite unlike any other power supply you'll see. While Antec was one of the first manufacturers to provide colored LED lights on power supply fans, GlobalWIN is taking the concept a couple steps further. The SAF420 comes with two blue lighted LED fans. And if that's not enough, this particular unit sports clear windows so you can see the inner workings without having to take off the cover.

  • Xoxide X500 Case review   [Review, Guru3d]
The beige standard case is really not something people buy these days anymore, that boring PC Case is something from the past. People spend more and more money on their PC these days and a design case is something they are willing to spend money on. If you are a visitor of Guru3D.com then you crave the need for the best hardware and therefore you will like case modifications. I am right aren't I? There's a big downside though, if you are one of those people who is well .. to lazy to case-mod himself, have two left hands or simply does not have the time to make a case-mod then what on this earth can you do? Luckily for us there are a few companies out there who saw this gap in the market and when you are ready to pay some dough, you can pretty much buy anything to your liking. Xoxide is such a company, they buy pre-modded cases and resell them. Hey it saves you from burning down the house, cut fingers off, or at the least put an eye out, I guess I need to put in a disclaimer.

Like I said before, HTPCs are pretty new, and it is difficult to find something that fits your needs and looks good as well. I have already reviewed a case made for ATX size boards, but how about something smaller and more compact? Enter the Antec Minuet, fitting only uATX and ITX boards. Let's see how good it is shall we?

  • BeanTech BT-85 Acrylic Case   [Review, Bit-Tech]
There's little doubt that acrylic cases are in fashion in a big way, or that BeanTech with their impressive collection of cases are of one of the companies at the centre of the market. Today we're going to be taking a look at the BT-85 clear acrylic case, which looks on the surface at least, very similar to the BT-80 we reviewed and liked a few months ago. Let's see what the BT-85 has to offer and if it's worth your hard earned or not...

  • SilenX 400 watt PSU   [Review, Gruntville]
When building a custom PC or modding an existing one, one of the most important factors not to cut corners on is the PSU. The PSU is the true source of vitality and stability of all your prized PC components. Unfortunately many people don’t understand the difference between a quality PSU and a cheap one. Sometimes all they see is a way of saving some money by buying a generic power supply, and what they end up with is the equivalent of a 3 cylinder Ferrari. The bottom line is that if you want a performance machine then you will have to buy a solid, dependable PSU.

  • So-Trickcomputers.com Spidey II Case Review   [Review, 3dXtreme]
Today 3dXtreme has the great pleasure of reviewing the Spidey II case from so-trickcomputers.com. The Spidey II comes in either a black or silver finish with a laser cut design of Spiderman's mask on the side panel. Also cool is the fan grill between Spiderman's eyes, another laser cut image of Spiderman's face. Besides the great job of the side design of the case, this case is light, has mounts for seven fans total, seven 3.5" bays, and four 5.25" bays.

We’ve talked recently how important the power supply has become when building that perfect power rig, but when it comes right down to the choices, well, it can be more than just a little daunting. There are a huge number of players in this market nowadays, so it becomes even more critical than ever to make sure that we make an informed decision.
