  • Cable Sleeving Guide   [Guide, hardwarelogic]
This guide was written first and foremost with the intent to educate PC enthusiasts on the finer points of taming the unruly and unsightly monster that we all hate to see inside of our computers, otherwise known as "spaghetti". For the uninitiated, spaghetti refers to the copious amounts of loose, disorganized and multi-colored wiring that exists in all computers today. This messy array of wiring has distinct disadvantages which if not corrected, can have detrimental effects on your computing experience.

  • Thermaltake CircleFire Panel Review   [Review, mikhailtech]
The unit itself weights in at 310g, hardly light. It measures 149 x 42 x 123mm and has a built-in 2 watt speaker in the center. Yes, 2 watts. Don't expect serious audio (or any bass for that matter) with this panel. Below the speaker are two buttons: one for controlling volume and one for switching colors. Pressing the volume button cycles through high, medium, and low presets. Pressing the other button cycles through each of the 7 colors (which backlight the dB gauges). Pressing it once more enables the auto cycling, which basically flashes each of the colors in succession at a rate of approximately one color every 2-3 seconds.

  • Spire DigiPanel II   [Review, overclockersonline]
Aesthetically, the panel is very pleasing to the eye and will compliment the look of any case, regardless of color. The shiny aluminum and the large knob, paired with a large blue-backlit LCD panel, are very futuristic. Some features I would have enjoyed if Spire had included them with the DigiPanel II are the ability to store different configurations and the ability to turn fans off completely.

  • Metal Leafing Guide at CaseModGod.com   [Guide, CaseModGod]
Gold, silver or copper can be a great looking accent, but not all mod parts come in these colors. Having parts dipped and plated, like chroming, can be very pricey. So what do you do? A technique called Leafing, which is a process of applying a real metal onto wood, metal, or plastic.

  • Plexiglass Basics: What you need to know   [Guide, CaseModGod]
One of the first mods usually done to a case is the window mod. It shows off almost all the other mods, hardware and hard work done in a system. The material that goes in every window and many other mods is clear plastic, better known to Modders as plexiglass or acrylic. This is a Look into the basic tools and techniques for working with this material.

  • Ultra Products Fan Commander   [Review, PimpRig]
All of the cables that are included with the Fan Commander are Silver braided and covered with a clear plastic which will make them look less unsightly inside a case. They needed to do something because think of it; once everything is installed you will be adding 12 cables to your interior. The braided cables are flexible and because of the Silver braiding they hold their shape well when you bend them.

  • Matrix Orbital MX6 Series PLED Kit   [Review, Bjorn3d]
After spending some time with Matrix Orbital's MX4 series of Character LCD kits, I nearly leaped out of my socks when word came that their new MX6 series was nearly ready for primetime. Promising higher contrast, lightning response times, and low power draw, Matrix Orbital's new PLED displays are the centerfold of their new lineup. Now that I have thoroughly experienced the MX6 myself, I can certainly say that I am not disappointed.

  • Thermaltake Hardcano 13   [Review, Bjorn3d]
Sure you have a whole armada of fans to keep your rig cool, but what good are they if you are not fully in control of them? Out of control fans tend to be louder than we would like, and may even be hurting the cooling inside our cases. Thermaltake has been providing the means for taking control of these unruly fans for many years, and now provides us with their latest version, the Hardcano 13. The Hardcano 13 is capable of controling up to four case fans, each with its own thermal probe for monitoring the temperature around the fan. Follow along to see how well the Hardcano 13 performs when faced with the task of monitoring and controlling PC fans.

  • A.C.Ryan Connectx PSU Mod Kit Review   [Review, mikhailtech]
The first of the included tools is the 4-pin plug remover. This is pretty much the best thing ever. One end is for male connectors, one for female. To remove the wires from a connector, simply slide the Toolx into the hole and pull the cable out the other side. This way you can disconnect all the wires from a plug in a matter of seconds. Note that you should always keep track of which wire goes where (best way to do this is remove them one at a time and immediately put them back into the new connector), since even the two ground wires aren't the same.

  • Razotech's Blue LED Ram Mod Review   [Review, extensiontech]
PC modding, and modding products are here to stay if you hadn't noticed. Enthusiasts of greatly varying degrees, mod, purchase mod products, and drive this somewhat niche industry that higher tier PC makers have almost totally avoided. On that note, it's always nice to see a new manufacturer emerge, and bring new things to the table. Today is just that sort of day. I'll be looking at a new product, from a new company, Razotech. If making your memory flicker with bright LED's sounds like fun, you'll want to continue on...

  • Sunbeam Chameleon   [Review, Bjorn3d]
Everyone knows that having PC lights in your custom case gives it a high-tech and clean look. The only problem with that is most neon lights and LEDs are single colored. Of course you could make your own color switch but why bother? Chameleon comes to the rescue. So you want red on Monday and purpule the following day? No problem, I will illustrate how easy it is to do just that!

  • Thermaltake Xpeaker Panel Review   [Review, mikhailtech]
The drivers are too small and too weak to reproduce any low frequencies, so the result is a slight boost in sound levels. As for distortion, there really is none since it never reaches levels where it would be noticeable. In short, these are quiet speakers. For what it's worth, the Xpeaker is a neat contraption and useful in certain situations. However the hype is rather misleading. Thermaltake claims (and I quote), "Play it LOUD!! Xpeaker builds you a heart-pumping experience for games, music, and more!!". This couldn't be further from the truth. I did almost everything with the setup: fragging, listening to some tunes, watching a movie, etc. Yes, it's bearable, but the fact remains that the speakers are low on both physical dimensions and power. Therefore, any low frequency reproduction is unheard of.

  • Matrix Orbital MX222 LCD Kit   [Review, Bjorn3d]
Case mods have gone from being a simple fad to an all out competition between friends, foes, and everyone in between. Everywhere you go there is someone with a PC filled with lights, fans, custom windows, etc...etc. Now there are the true competitors that go the limit with modding their case and PC to try to achieve pure uber geeky coolness. I have the opportunity to take a look at one of the coolest mods that I have seen so far with the Matrix Orbital MX222 LCD screen. LCD screens aren't just for your monitor anymore, they can add a nifty little display that can show you everything from temperatures to what song you have playing at the moment.

  • SilverStonetek SST-FP54 Review   [Review, extensiontech]
You'd perhaps think that this parallel powered VFD was late into the market. And well, perhaps it is...But seeing that you can't buy too many printers these days that use the parallel port anymore, that leaves potential for all those free printer ports doesn't it? This parallel (2x16) character VFD from SilverStone, with its beveled, brushed aluminum front panel, in silver or black, is perhaps the final touch to finish off a mod. Continue on to see what I think.
