XFX GeForce 7800 GTX 512 XXX Review [Review, extremetech]
There was only one little snag. The X1800XT wasn't supposed to start shipping for another month. Well, it's finally available (though it's hard to find one in stock), and ATI has even released a new driver that makes use of the programmable memory controller in the X1000 architecture to dramatically improve scores in OpenGL games like Doom 3 and Quake 4. Not to be outdone, Nvidia is ready with its response. With another hard launch, Nvidia brings us the GeForce 7800 GTX 512, available today. More than just an increase from 256MB of graphics memory to 512MB, this new part includes a new cooling solution that enables these cherry-picked chips to achieve very high clock speeds. Albatron PC6600LEQ Videocard Review [Review, PCStats]
The Albatron PC6600LEQ videocard is teamed up with 256MB of memory, it supports TV-Output and since it is passively cooled, does not generate any noise at all. The RAMDAC on the Albatron PC6600LEQ runs at 400 MHz and will provide a crisp 2D display all the way up to 2048x1536 @ 85 Hz. The Albatron PC6600LEQ is pretty plane; a compact blue PCB with large (single slot) passive heatsink that makes it ideal for HTPC or SFF PC use. Like all modern videocards, the PC6600 LEQ supports dual monitors. It does not ship with a DVI to analog converter however. Mon, 14 Nov, 2005 | 1 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail
ATi RADEON X1800 XT ‘Hard-On’ Edition - it’s a clock up! [News, Hexus]
HEXUS has learnt that ATi Technologies has sent out an official communication to select Add-In-Board (AIB) partners, that endorses an increase in the clock frequencies at which products based on its flagship RADEON X1800 XT (R520) ASIC can be shipped at.
This ATi document - ATi RADEON ‘X1800 XT OC support’ - effectively advises that due to better than expected yields of its X1800 XT ASIC, ATi is guaranteeing that the clock frequencies can be raised from the original reference design VPU core frequency of 625MHz to 650MHz, and that it’s recommending that AIB partners wishing to ship products at this core frequency, should also increase the video memory clock by 25MHz from 750MHz to 775MHz. Leadtek GeForce 7800 Roundup [Review, Beyond3d]
Since the release of NVIDIA GeForce 7800 series some months back the line had been populated by two base configurations, the 24 fragment piped "GTX" variant and the 20 fragment piped "GT". However, since its release NVIDIA board vendors have been free to vary their core and memory speed variantions to some degree, thus there’s been multiple different performance configuration above the base reference specs.
One such board vendor, that has been keen to play around with the 7800 clock speeds, is NVIDIA partner, Leadtek. Here Beyond3D is taking a look at three variants of the 7800 products with the PX7800 GT TDH Extreme, PX7800 GTX TDH and the PX7800 GT TDH Extreme. nVidia 7800GTX 512 [Review, tbreak]
The 7800GTX 512 is a tweaked up version of nVidia’s original 7800GTX although we’re not sure
why nVidia isn’t labeling it as an “Ultra” like they’ve done in their previous generation
products. The five months that nVidia had since the launch of the 7800GTX were spent well with
nVidia tuning the fabrication process to speed up certain data paths inside the chip, and by
tuning the printed circuit board (PCB) design. Mon, 14 Nov, 2005 | 4 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail
NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GTX 512MB Review [Review, Beyond3d]
NVIDIA released the G70 based 7800 Series in June, some month back now, and while they are in-between their main push to 90nm based products, which looks to be in early 2006, they have been giving their line of graphics cards a bit of a polish ready for the holiday season. While the refreshes are primarily based on the GeForce 6 Series, the flagship product is also receiving an update.
While the GeForce 7800 GTX 512MB name gives away part of the basis for the product update, it certainly obscures the rest. Here we take a look at this new 7800 GTX model to see how it differs from previous GTX's and how much performance it gains over them. ATI Misfires With First CrossFire [Preview, PCWorld]
Nearly a year after nVidia won graphics enthusiasts over with its SLI dual-graphics-card technology, ATI is rolling out its own high-end dual-card platform. Our tests of preproduction boards show that the new technology, dubbed CrossFire, has promise but is plagued by design limitations and--so far--lackluster performance. Like nVidia's SLI, CrossFire requires a special dual-slot motherboard. ATI advises buyers to use as-yet-unreleased motherboards based on its own Xpress 200 chip set (we ran our tests on a reference motherboard supplied by ATI). But ATI says motherboards based on Intel's 955X chip set with two x16 PCIe slots should also work satisfactorily. Wed, 09 Nov, 2005 | 8 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail
NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GS (PCIe) [Article, hardwarezone]
Just when you thought the GeForce 6 series has settled down, NVIDIA stirs it up and adds a very interesting option at the US$249 price range. Targeted specifically at the Radeon X1600 XT, the GeForce 6800 GS looks to grab some of its thunder even before ATI makes it available. 3DMark Triple Crown Achieved! [News, HardwareAsylum]
Team Hardware Asylum has broken all three Futuremark 3DMark world records. We have set the world records in 3DMark 2001SE, 3DMark ’03, and 3DMark ’05. We have also reached a few milestones with these records. We are the first to ever reach 50,000 points in 3DMark 2001SE, and the first to ever reach 40,000 points in 3DMark ’03. We also hold the world record of 17,560 points in 3DMark ’05.
To obtain these results we were using an AMD Athlon FX-57 which was liquid nitrogen cooled to 3.9GHz (3900MHz) benchmarking stable. We were also using voltage modified Gigabyte GeForce 7800GTX video cards in SLI. The video cards were cooled by dry ice.
We also set the record for the highest AMD clock speed on the Futuremark ORB (Online Result Browser) in history with an amazing clock of 3939MHz. Sat, 05 Nov, 2005 | 12 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail
ATis great thinkers slip R580 codename [News, Hexus]
The codename
of ATi’s forthcoming successor to its just released RADEON X1800 XT
(R520) - the 90nm R580 is called ‘Rodin’.
Named, we think, after the great French sculptor Auguste Rodin
(1840–1917), whose works included ‘The Thinker’ and the exquisitely
risqué ‘The Kiss’.
With memory rumoured to be like Fudo, what kind of a thinker will
ATi R580 be? Sat, 05 Nov, 2005 | 4 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail
MSI NX7800GTX-VT2D256E SLI Videocards Review [Review, PCStats]
MSI videocards are traditionally some of the best on the market, largely because the company bundles the most value into its products by including lots and lots of extras. The MSI NX7800GTX-VT2D256E PCI Express videocards we'll be testing in this review, in single and SLI mode, each come with a full version of the highly popular "The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay" video game. Those of you who are into video editing will also appreciate VIVO (Video In/Video Out) support. Please note that all GeForce 7800GTX cards are PCI Express only, so if you have a computer that uses 8XAGP videocards, it's a good time to upgrade your motherboard. Sapphire Radeon X800GT PCIe (256MB BGA DDR3) [Review, HardwareZoom]
Cost only half as much as the X800XL, the Sapphire Radeon X800GT is a great choice for
main-stream gamers who want to play the latest games at affordable price. Bundled with full
version of Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow, PowerDVD 6 and cables for HDTV connection, it adds
even more values to this main-stream gaming card. Featuring 8 pixel-pipelines, which is half as
much as X800XL, the X800GT actually performs as good as X800XL at lower resolution. However at
1600x1200 with full-screen anti-aliasing, the X800GT can lag more than 50% behind the X800XL.
Therefore, we would recommend this card if you are not planning to play games at high
resolution with full details and anti-aliasing.
To get the most out of the card, you can easily overclock it using the bundled TRIXX
overclocking tool. From our benchmark results, we manage to achieve about 15% increase in
performance with the stock heatsink fan. The little copper-based heatsink fan has done very
well in keeping the card cool without generation a lot of noise. Thu, 03 Nov, 2005 | 15 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail
Sapphire X800 GTO2 Limited Edition 256MB PCIe Video Card [Review, PimpRig]
The Sapphire X800 GTO2 was modestly launched recently and not much hooplah had surrounded the
card until it's secret was discovered. The X800 GTO2 is a 12 pipeline 256MB video card much
like the vanilla X800. What is very much un-like the vanilla X800 is that the X800 GTO2 doesn't
run on the same ATI430 GPU. Instead, it runs on the ATI480 GPU. For the GPU model informed you
will notice that is the same GPU core model used on the Sapphire X850 video cards which pack 16
pixel pipelines. Wed, 02 Nov, 2005 | 18 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail

Asus Extreme N7800 GT Dual Sneak Peek Preview [Preview, HotHardware]
Asus recently presented us with an opportunity to evaluate a rather unique video card, namely their soon to be released Extreme N7800 GT DUAL. What makes the Asus Extreme N7800 GT Dual somewhat unique is that this card sports a pair of NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GT GPUs and 512MB of GDDR3 RAM on a single PCB. The Extreme N7800 GT Dual essentially simulates a two-card GeForce 7800 GT SLI configuration with a single card. Both Asus and Gigabyte did something similar with NVIDIA's GeForce 6 series of GPUs, but the relatively quick release and availability of the GeForce 7 series overshadowed anything available from the previous generation. This time around though, Asus is ready with a dual-GeForce 7800 GT based card only weeks after the introduction of the Geforce 7800 GT GPU. Feast your eyes on this beauty.
