MSI FX5600U-VTD128 (FX 5600 Ultra) [Review, HardwareZone]
A quick glance into your favorite computer mart would reveal the abundance of GeForce FX 5200 and FX 5600 graphics cards, but some of you may have difficulty locating their higher performing Ultra versions. Definitely they are available but the quantity and variety are certainly not on level with the more affordable non-Ultra variants. So, what’s keeping them? As much as some of us would like to get our hands on them, the truth is that NVIDIA is facing a GPU component shortage for these parts and could be a little while before they bounce back to normal. This is why there are limited vendors offering perhaps only a maximum of one version. MSI is a strong NVIDIA graphics card vendor who usually has multiple configurations for each GPU, but for the GeForce FX 5600 Ultra, they have only a solo version, which is the FX5600U-VTD128. The ATi Radeon 9600 XT [Review, HotHardware]
Any way you slice it, it seems that NVIDIA just can't catch a break. Just when they seemed to pull out of their year-long funk following the GFFX 5800 introduction, by releasing the GeForce FX 5900 Ultra, they were called to the carpet again, over what they like to call, driver "optimizations". In a world where benchmarks can make or break the salability of any piece of hardware, just like critics can determine the fate of a movie ("Gigli" comes to mind), NVIDIA has done what they felt was necessary to paint their products in the most positive light. Why was all this necessary you might ask? It is due in a large part by a steady stream of fiercely competitive releases from a company in Ontario, Canada, that you just might have heard of before, ATi. MSI nBox N5900 Ultra Review [Review, Neoseeker]
ATi took the world by storm with the Radeon 9x00 family. NVidia rushed to answer and came out with the underachieving GeForce FX 5800 Ultra. Unlike the FX 5800 Ultra, which lost badly to the Radeon 9700 Pro, the FX 5900 Ultra is everything the FX 5800 Ultra was not, namely, a quiet card that would beat the Radeon 9700 Pro and go head-to-head with the Radeon 9800 Pro. Tyan Tachyon G9600 Pro 128MB [Review, Hexus]
Looking back at the last half of 2002, it became clear that ATi had managed to wrestle the graphics card crown from their long-term rival NVIDIA. ATi, then spearheaded by the Radeon 9700 Pro, seemed to have a card to suit all budgets, but as in boxing, the pound-for-pound champion was, arguably, the Radeon 9500 Pro. It featured the same impressive VPU as the 9700 non-Pro (8 rendering pipelines and a 275MHz VPU clock speed) but halved the available memory bandwidth with the use of an 128-bit memory bus. Still, its price-to-performance ratio made it an attractive proposition for users with a midrange budget. Mon, 13 Oct, 2003 | 27 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail

ATI Radeon 9100 IGP Preview [Preview, Beyond3d]
While the so called graphics heavy-weights are slugging it out in all points of the discrete market, all you have to do is take a look at Intel’s graphics market share figures to realise that there’s a real pot of gold in the low-end, the integrated graphics market. NVIDIA partially clued on to this several years back with the introduction of nForce, yet its relatively high price has meant that their second incarnation has actually been more successful without graphics. And their big inhibiter in terms of gaining integrated graphics market share has been an unwillingness to purchase an Intel bus license, which would limit their profitability, thus sticking to the lower volume AMD market. Hot on the heels of the latest news regarding the Radeon 9800XT, ATi have delivered on another front, finally releasing the All-In-Wonder 9600 Pro. Back in early August ATi gave us a taste of what was on the way, with the latest All-In-Wonder sporting some unique new features not found on previous models. Now, two long months later to the day, the new All-In-Wonder 9600 Pro is here. Wed, 08 Oct, 2003 | 83 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail
ATI's Catalyst 3.8 Drivers: ATI Sanctioned Overclocking [Article, AnandTech]
There have been lots of questions about why we chose to do our Part 2 article using the 3.7 Cats from ATI rather than waiting until today to use the brand new 3.8 version of the drivers. Our reasoning behind this decision was two fold: we wanted to get yesterday's article out as a timely follow-up to last weeks Part 1 of the series, and we also wanted to do a comparison between the 3.7 Cats and the new drivers. HIS Excalibur Radeon IceQ9800 Pro review [Review, Guru3d]
Today we will be looking at a product from a manufacturer that is very up and coming in Europe, HIS. HIS ? yeah HIS ... and it stands for Hightech Information Systems. They actually have been around for quite a while, 1987, and I've been following them for a long time also. The main offices are stationed on Hong Kong. Inno3D GeForce FX 5900 [Review, HardcoreWare]
It's not quite that simple. In most cases, each model number comes in a 'regular' version, and an 'ultra' or 'pro' version. Earlier this week, we compared ATI's 9800 Pro 256 to their other high end card, the 9800 Pro (which comes with 128MB). Our findings were that in no way does the extra 128MB of ram justify the $130-150 increase in price on the card. Wed, 08 Oct, 2003 | 67 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail
TYAN TACHYON G9800Pro-M 128MB [Review, Digit-Life]

Abit Siluro FX 5900 OTES [Review, UKGamer]
It's another Geforce FX 5900 graphics card here at UKGamer, and this time we look at the outrageous Abit Siluro FX 5900 OTES. What sets this card apart from the host of others we've tested is its cooling solution. The Geforce FX 5900 as we already found out is a capable video card but due to pricing it simply wasn't a viable option compared to a Radeon 9800 PRO. We find out whether that has changed thanks to time and Abit's engineering prowess. Mon, 06 Oct, 2003 | 41 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail

MSI NBOX N5900 Ultra (GeForce FX 5900 Ultra) [Review, Bjorn3d]
What will draw most people to this package though or cause them to do a double take is the included bundle, which boasts three full version games. These three games are different from what you'd expect in a video card bundle; they are actually fairly recent and still popular! In other words, people are still buying these games, and they aren't in the $5 bin yet. The games include Battlefield 1942, Unreal II: Awakening, and Command & Conquer: Generals. That's a great selection that would provide countless hours of fun for most gamers. MSI definitely gets props for taking the initiative to create a bundle this good! Let's hope that this is the shape (or at least close to the shape) of things to come from MSI and its competitors in the future. Mon, 06 Oct, 2003 | 37 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail

Tyan Tachyon G9800 PRO-M 128MB [Review, Hexus]
Tyan seems willing to oblige lovers of high frame rates and fat wallets. Tyan is one of ATi's main partners, so it's no surprise that it produces cards based on every VPU designed by the Canadians. The Tyan Tachyon G9800 PRO-M, as you may have guessed, is Tyan's Radeon 9800 PRO with a slight twist. We expect a card with a custom look, decent performance and a few features the reference card doesn't carry. Mon, 06 Oct, 2003 | 138 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail
ATI Radeon 9800 XT [Review, Beyond3d]
Whatever the case may be with regards to this being a new chip or a revised chip, essentially the design does remain the same; however there have been a few architectural tweaks in order to remove further hotspots from the R350 design and also move to a revised 150nm process. Although the process is still basically TSMC's 150nm process the transistors are able to switch faster on this process than the previous one, giving rise to a slightly higher clock speed.
