Albatron GeForce PCX5750 [Review, Bjorn3d]
PCI Express is a versatile I/O interconnect technology that will eventually
completely replace existing PCI technology as well as the current video card
interconnect - AGP. The key difference between PCI and PCI Express is that
'classic' PCI is a parallel bus architecture; whereas, PCI Express is a point-
to-point serial I/O technology. It only takes a few numbers to see the
advantage. Sat, 16 Oct, 2004 | 21 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail
ASUS Extreme EN5900/TVD (PCX5900) PCI-Express 128MB and ASUS Extreme AX600XT/HTVD PCI-Express 128MB [Review, Hexus]
The main problem that I see facing both cards is the technology they're based upon. Benchmark graphs also showed the relative performance of a GeForce 6800 GT 256MB card, which was often double or treble either midrange cards'. Cheaper derivatives of the NV40 design, vanilla GeForce 6800 and 6600 GT, as well as ATI's upcoming RADEON X700 XT, will begin to encroach on PCX5900 and X600 XT pricing territory. These newer cards are fundamentally better in almost every regard, so waiting a couple of months may be the prudent thing to do in the £150 graphics card category. GALAXY Glacier GeForce 6800 128MB [Review, Hexus]
GALAXY has gone about the design of its GeForce 6800 line in stark contrast to most manufacturers and partners. Recruiting Arctic Cooling, purveyors of high-quality cooling, was the first step towards a non-reference design. The oversized VGA silencer carries the two-fold benefit of reducing core temperature and fan speed. GALAXY's obviously confident enough with Arctic Cooling's efforts to warrant a 15/25MHz (depending on whether you consider 325MHz or 335MHz the default 6800 speed) increase over reference models. GALAXY Technology also adds in some super-fast Hynix DDR1 RAM, rated to a nominal 900MHz, yet chooses to go with NVIDIA's 700MHz RAM speed recommendations. Leadtek WinFast A400 Ultra TDH (GeForce 6800 Ultra) [Review, Bjorn3d]
If you want the fastest graphics engine for gaming on the planet, you basically
have two choices: ATi's Radeon X800 XT or NVIDIA's GeForce 6800 Ultra. Each one
has its strengths and weaknesses, and each one can dominate the other depending
on the game or benchmark being run at the time. Until now, we had only reviewed
one of each of these graphics powerhouses in retail form. Sat, 16 Oct, 2004 | 31 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail
LeadTek WinFast A400 Ultra/GT TDH 6800 Review [Review, Beyond3d]
At a glance, the only noticeable difference between the two boards is the additional Molex connector visible on the 6800 Ultra-based card - aside from that, both boards use the same, near-silent two slot cooling solution. Despite its 'monster cooling' look, the fan noise from these boards is indeed reasonably quiet, and certainly not noticeably loud over the rest of the components in an average system, even in an open case. ATI's Radeon X700 XT [Review, Hexus]
Vertex shader performance is class-leading, on-chip video decode is class-leading, pixel shader performance is very strong, and apart from a few hiccoughs with a couple of tests, overall performance was very strong. In our mix of mainly theoretical tests, it doesn't oust the 6600 GT in terms of overall performance, but neither does it yeild. ATI fixed the X700 XT's clocks at the very last minute, and it shows. Also, ATI once again feed a GPU with just the right amount of bandwidth (you need to scale both core and memory together for meaningful performance jumps), judging things very well. High-End PCIe Graphics : Asus’s Extreme AX800 X800 XT 256MB [Review, GamePC]
The other question regarding high-end PCI Express component availability, appears to be in ATI's court as well, as we're holding the new Asus Radeon X800 XT PCI Express x16 card in our hands right now. The release of these cards is a godsend to many, who have been waiting for any high-end PCI Express cards to pair with their new Socket-775 Pentium 4 systems. Until now, the landscape of available PCI Express cards has been fairly desolate, as the fastest PCIe cards available have been based on ATI’s X600 XT and nVidia’s GeForce PCX 5900 cards, not nearly enough to satisfy the needs of a high-end gamer. Let’s see what a real PCI Express card is capable of. Tue, 05 Oct, 2004 | 39 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail
PowerColor Radeon 9800 Platinum Edition [Review, Bjorn3d]
Today we are looking at the PowerColor RADEON 9800 Platinum Edition. For those
that don't know, Tul owns the PowerColor brand and is the third largest
provider of ATI-based graphic cards. The company makes very competitive
products that are known all over the world. Although the RADEON 9800 has been
around for some time now, this card is something totally different -- and I do
mean it. Tue, 05 Oct, 2004 | 55 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail

ASUS V9999 GeForce 6800 Gamers Edition 256MB [Review, Hexus]
ASUS ripped up NVIDIA's suggested vanilla GeForce 6800 spec. sheet with its V9999 GeForce 6800 Gamers Edition card. There's little basic resemblance - 256MB GDDR3 RAM, rated at 1GHz, a 350MHz core and dual Molex connectors make it, on a purely physical level, more akin to the GT/Ultra variants. In fact, it's far closer in internal specification to a GT model. On the face of it, a lack of a fourth quad (4 pixel pipelines, so 12 vs. 16) and lack of a sixth vertex shader is all that stands between it and fully fledged GT status. Dual Molex connectors kind of infer failed Ultra status, too. Tue, 28 Sep, 2004 | 59 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail
ATI's X800 All-In-Wonder Launch [Article, Hexus]
The new AIW will include an updated ‘Identity’ connector which can be used to attach the new stackable I/O modules. Instead of having to connect everything at once, or have two break-out boxes (one input, one output), ATI now gives you the best of both worlds. You can have only input, only output, or both clipped together. SCART output is also now an option for Europe, plus component output for use with TVs that support the connection. NVIDIA's GeForce 6600 GT [Preview, Hexus]
Very strong mid-range performance wth many times the raw shader power of NVIDIA's outgoing mid-range hardware, keen price and all the architectural benefits of NV40, without any of the form factor downsides of NV40 boards. 6600 GT will sell very well and for good reason. Get your pre-order in now and pray NVIDIA get the AGP version out as soon as possible since that's the version many of you are waiting for. It's THE board to have on PCI Express at the time of writing. Tue, 28 Sep, 2004 | 49 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail

Leadtek WinFast A400GT TDH 6800GT Review [Review, digital-deity]
For many gamers, NVIDIA’s GeForce 6800GT cards hit sweet spot in terms of price/performance ratio. Beating ATI’s X800Pro in the majority of benchmarks, and utterly crushing the vanilla 6800 (not to mention older 9800XT or 5950) cards, the 6800GT offers performance levels not all that far off the 6800Ultra or X800XT, but at a considerably lower price point. Today we are looking at a GT from respected manufacturer Leadtek, who have an enviable reputation within the enthusiast community for producing premium quality cards at reasonable prices.
