BFG Tech GeForce 7800GT "Overclocked" - The affordable GTX [Review, TweakTown]
As you may have already figured out from the title, we’ll be looking at the BFG retail offering of the 7800GT which comes with its normal Lifetime Warranty and one of my personal favorite features, a nice healthy pre-overclock without voiding of the warranty.
The GeForce 7800GT marks the release of the performance mainstream 7800 series – it’s a cut-down version of the flagship 7800 GTX and costs around $100 US less for those who cannot justify the price of the GTX. Thu, 11 Aug, 2005 | 19 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail
Gigabyte GV-3D1-68GT (Dual GeForce 6800 GT) [Review, hardwarezone]
When the original GV-3D1 was unveiled, Gigabyte became the first ever manufacturer to combine two SLI-capable GPUs onto one PCB, forming a single board SLI graphics card. Made available at the very beginning of this year, the GV-3D1 was based on dual GeForce 6600 GT cores. As impressive and innovative it was, it was unfortunately tied down to be used on nForce4 SLI motherboards only as NVIDIA's drivers will only allow SLI operation on such motherboards. The latest update from NVIDIA a few days ago revealed that SLI motherboards would no longer be enthusiast toys and would be packaged to suit mainstream motherboard prices. So that's good news for would-be SLI owners or even those who would like to future-proof their machine with another form of upgrade option. XFX NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GT [Review, Hexus]
The most desirable mainstream graphics board on the market at
the time of writing, bar none. Anything slower treads on the 6800
Ultra's toes a bit too much, so it'll be interesting to see how
NVIDIA might handle that product overlap in the months to come. We
await the imminent arrival of the ATI R520, and friends, that little
while longer, but see NVIDIA's timing as just about perfect. In the
meantime NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GT is effectively the HEXUS 'Editor's
Choice' for the high-end. Thu, 11 Aug, 2005 | 10 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail
GeForce 7800GTX: EVGA's KO Edition [Review, AnandTech]
The previous EVGA 7800GTX that we tested comes factory overclocked, with a core clock of 450MHz and memory clock of 1.2GHz, yet it would seem that EVGA was not content to stop there. The EVGA e-GeForce GTX KO comes out of the box with a core clock setting of 490MHz and memory clock of 1.3GHz. It also sports a modified heat sink and a new look, a first for our 7800 series. We're excited to see how this card performs and overclocks compared to the other 7800s. It's safe to say that it should outperform the 7800s that we've reviewed so far, but we'll be seeing by how much in the performance section later on. ABIT Fatal1ty X800 XL 512MB [Review, Hexus]
Whilst ABIT has sugar-coated the X800 XL 512MB VPU with its
range of sweet new features, we find it hard to recommend it
unreservedly. It's ostensibly slower than similarly-priced cards, and
speed is, after all, why most users shell out £275 on a graphics card.
However, it's been refreshing to see a company willing to design
better and cleverer cards than the majority of other board partners,
and we hope to see more innovation from the folks at ABIT on, dare we
say it, faster GPUs. Sun, 07 Aug, 2005 | 10 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail
PowerColor X800 GT Review [Review, Bjorn3d]
Today ATI is launching a brand new RADEON® graphic card the X800 GT. This
particular VPU is targeted at NVIDIA's GeForce 6600GT and 6800LE series of
cards. ATI's partners will supply roughly 50,000 units during the launch month
which means there will be quite a lot of X800 GTs available. While testing the
card I talked to Andrzej Bania -- PR and Marketing Manager for Northern Europe
& South Africa. We spoke about X800 GT and how it will impact ATI's current
line of products. You might recall X700 XT which was a direct competitor to
GeForce 6600GT, unfortunetely ATI decided to can it in favor of a more powerful
X800. Sun, 07 Aug, 2005 | 16 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail
AOpen Aeolus 7800 GTX-DVD256 Graphics Cards [Review, TrustedReviews]
We’ve already looked at a pair of retail boards from XFX and now we’ve got another pair from AOpen. The XFX 7800 GTX cards were notable for their plush packaging, VIVO support and slightly higher CPU and memory clocks. With the cheaper price and more modest box I was expecting the AOpen cards to be essentially identical to the reference boards. Indeed the AOpen card certainly looks that way, and doesn’t feature VIVO. However, as it turned out, with our review sample AOpen has matched XFX with the core and memory hitting 450 and 1,250MHz respectively – up from 430/1200 on the reference nVidia boards. Clearly there’s some headroom in the design and while the lower clocked version of the GTX is due to arrive very soon it does further suggest that an ‘Ultra’ version of the chip won’t be too much of an effort for nVidia if it feels threatened by ATI’s next move. Apple 30in Cinema Display (on a PC) & Matrox Parhelia DL256 [Review, TrustedReviews]
So, you’re probably wondering why I’m reviewing a monitor that’s been around for so long - other than the fact that it’s a fantastic bit of kit of course. Well the simple answer is that I was waiting until it was possible to connect the 30in Cinema Display to a standard PC, rather than a G5 Mac, and that day has finally come. I had hoped that I would have been able to write this review a long time ago, since on the same day that Apple announced the 30in Cinema Display, ATI also announced the FireGL v7100 workstation graphics card with dual link capability. Unfortunately, I still haven’t managed to get my hands on this card, but thankfully Matrox came to the rescue. Thu, 04 Aug, 2005 | 36 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail
GeForce 7800 GTX shootout [Roundup, Hexus]
Each package on test has merit when judged via a wide range
of criteria. Leadtek's is the cheapest and slowest, comparatively
speaking. The bundle is good and a custom BIOS adds a bit of extra
oomph to the already-fast card. Speaking of which, it's strictly a
reference design. BFG's effort sits in the middle, both in terms of
performance and price, and wins out in the warranty and bundle
stakes. XFX's, as is evident through our glut of benchmarks, is quite
simply the fastest single-card solution that we have ever tested. Fast
enough to attract a £65-£85 premium over the Leadtek, well, you
decide. Thu, 04 Aug, 2005 | 25 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail
AnandTech Exclusive: CrossFire Benchmarks Revealed [Preview, AnandTech]
This week, we were very lucky to get our hands on a CrossFire motherboard and a CrossFire master card from Gigabyte.
We have previously covered CrossFire, so please check out that article for more details. It all comes down to ATI's answer to SLI in the form of a master/slave card combination where the master card reconstructs the data produced by both cards and outputs it to the display. Communication between cards is done over PCI Express and a dongle that plugs into the slave card's DVI port. And today, we have the pleasure of talking about performance. Vendor Cards: MSI NX7800GTX [Review, AnandTech]
Hardware is caught up in an eternal struggle to achieve the absolute best quality and performance in the latest games. With games like Doom 3 or Chronicles of Riddick, you don't need to have the best graphics card to enjoy them, but in order to play them (smoothly) with the highest quality settings, you need one that's top of the line. That's where NVIDIA's 7800 series comes in. This line of graphics cards is the most powerful that you can buy right now, and we intend ultimately to test and review as many as we can get our hands on. ATI All-in-Wonder Radeon X800 XT Review [Review, sharkyextreme]
The All-in-Wonder Radeon X800 XT may have a ton of onboard multimedia features, but at its base, we are still talking about a powerful Radeon X800 XT 256-MB card. This translates into top-end gaming performance, as the card is powered by a full 16-pipeline Radeon X800 XT core running at 500 MHz, along with 256-MB of GDDR3 clocked at 500 MHz (1 GHz effective). The All-in-Wonder Radeon X800 XT is clocked at default levels, and there is no effective difference between the performance specifications when compared to a standard Radeon X800 XT 256-MB board. XFX GeForce 7800 GTX Overclocked Review [Review, pcper]
If you remember correctly, when we first reviewed the reference NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GTX graphics card at the end of June, you could already purchase the cards online, that very same day. It was the first time that I can remember a major hardware release having availability on the day of announcement. NVIDIA has set a very high bar for the rest of the graphics and PC industry, and I hope everyone intends to match it. Tue, 02 Aug, 2005 | 12 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail
BFG Tech GeForce 7800 GTX “Overclocked” [Review, TweakTown]
More often than not we hear people on the forums, all over the world, saying not to spend the extra dollars on that well known brand and go for the cheap one. People ask, “why should I spend more… aren’t they just all the same?” Today we are looking at the latest graphics card offering from BFG Tech and seeing if we can say, “hang on, it’s worth spending that extra $20 USD” when you compare it to other major nVidia partners like MSI, ASUS and Gigabyte.
Much like our look into the Gigabyte 7800 GTX offerings we will be following the same route with the BFG 7800 GTX OC (it comes overclocked out of the box) graphics card to see if we can justify spending the little bit extra and answer that question what do you get for those extra dollars.
Read on and we’ll find out what BFG offers over their competitors. Mon, 01 Aug, 2005 | 13 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail
Crucial RADEON X850 XT 256MB Video Card [Review, Hexus]
There's little doubt that ATI's RADEON X850 XT graphics card
provides decent performance in the high-end sector. Our benchmarks
have illustrated that it performs at around the same kind of pace as
a GeForce 6800 Ultra, and around 5% slower than ATI's own X850 XT
Platinum Edition. Performance, then, isn't really a concern. Fri, 29 Jul, 2005 | 9 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail
Gigabyte GeForce 7800 GTX Review [Review, Bjorn3d]
With the very successful GeForce 6 Series and what will probably be an even
more successful 7 Series, NVIDIA is clearly back to doing things right. SLI has
made the company king again, at least for a little while. SLI combined with the
7800 GTX is a whole new level of 'wow' that we haven't seen before. I think
it's getting easier and easier to forget about that 5800 silliness.
By now, you've probably heard it a thousand times, but it deserves repeating.
NVIDIA's 7800 GTX launch was not just a typical paper launch. A handful of
companies had cards on the virtual shelves of e-tailers the day that the new
card was announced. As a matter of fact, we even had a retail board for our
preview article. Today, though, it's time to look at retail 7800 GTX offering
from Gigabyte, a name I'm sure you all recognize. Fri, 29 Jul, 2005 | 9 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail
