ATI’s R520 architecture, the new king of the hill? (X1800) [Preview, hardwareanalysis]
So what does the R520 architecture bring to the table exactly? For starters it is not the 32-pipeline architecture it has been rumored to be, it is half that, offering just 16-pipelines, which is less than NVIDIA’s G70 architecture that has 24. The R520 architecture will be introduced as the X1800 series, featuring the top-of-the-line Radeon X1800 XT with a 600MHz core clock and 700MHz memory clock, yielding an effective 1400MHz memory clock speed. The 600MHz clockspeed combined with 16-pipelines for the graphics processor will give it a lower fillrate than the GeForce 7800GTX though, although the 7800GTX’ graphics processor runs at just 430MHz. With 512MB GDDR3 memory connected by a 256-bit wide memory bus the X1800 XT boasts more memory than the 7800GTX, but as shown before with 512MB version of the GeForce 6800 Ultra this will usually not help performance much, if at all. XFX GeForce 7800 GTX [Review, Bjorn3d]
We are quite used to paper launches when it comes to new chips from ATI and
NVIDIA. Therefore, it was a nice change when NVIDIA both announced the GeForce
7800 GTX and also had cards out using that chip at the same time.
Today, I am testing my first GeForce 7800 GTX, a card from XFX supplied by
NVIDIA and compare it to ATI’s current fastest card, the Radeon X850XT PE. Sat, 10 Sep, 2005 | 17 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail

Rather than clog up our round-up with the plethora of features that the All-In-Wonder X800GT has, we felt that it deserved its own separate article. ATI X1800, X1600, X1300, GTO, GTO2? Confused? Us too! [News, Hexus]
The name of this new card will be X1800, which we have seen on
the 'net already today. But the real juice of this bean is that ATI
have some more SKUs coming and they will have the following names:
X1800 which is based on the R520 VPU.
X1600 which is their mid range SKU based on RV530.
X1300 is their low-end SKU based on RV515.
Of course with any new generation comes new mobile parts, we believe
this will be in the form of the X1400. Thu, 08 Sep, 2005 | 25 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail

PowerColor Radeon X800 GT Review [Review, HardOCP]
The ATI Radeon X800 GT is an example of what you might call a “silent launch.” There weren’t any large media events associated with this new video card or any major launch previews or reviews. This product was released onto the market silently, “under the cover of darkness” (so to speak), with the NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT GPU set firmly in its sights. In fact, the launch of this new graphics card, chipset, VPU, or what have you, is so silent that ATI doesn’t even have it listed on their website. Under their product lineup for the X800 series, you cannot find mention of the X800 GT model. Although ATI may disavow the existence of their undercover mainstream operative, we can assure you that it does exist, and it is being produced and sold by add-in-board partners as we speak. S3 Graphics announces Chrome20 series [Preview, Hexus]
They're going after the mainstream market; after the users who
want to buy a graphics card, install it, and be able to go forth and
play all their games at their monitor's native resolution at default
graphics settings. S3G haven't been quiet without reason, they've
been working on putting together a product which might help them
score some of that mainstream market share. Thu, 08 Sep, 2005 | 8 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail
Sapphire Radeon X550 [Review, TrustedReviews]
Generally speaking, if you aren’t a games player you could consider using onboard graphics, but this can have negative performance impacts such as decreasing system memory performance. However, the main issue is that onboard graphics are usually only available on budget chipsets and budget motherboards. This can hinder the overall performance of your system, or limit functionality with features such as RAID often missing. If you want to run dual monitors, you’ll also need to think again. GeForce 7800 GT: XFX Overclocked [Review, AnandTech]
We've been looking at NVIDIA's 7800 GTX graphics cards lately, and the different vendor modifications have shown some impressive performance results. NVIDIA is still the reigning champion of graphics cards right now, and has been since the release of the 7800 series. While the 7800 GTX has more than proven NVIDIA's capabilities, it's also managed to make gamers on a budget cringe when thinking about buying one. With the lowest 7800 GTXs at around $500, many PC owners are finding it very hard to justify owning one, no matter how powerful it is. Ok, let’s get on with this review! I am not going to cover the architecture or feature set of the 7800 series in this article, enough websites have covered this already. This review and all 7800 GTX reviews that follow are specifically about the manufacturer cards performance, not the 7800 GTX architecture.

Gigabyte 7800 GTX GV-NX78X256V-B [Review, InsaneTek]
I am the type of enthusiast that is willing to fork over big bucks to possess the latest graphics technology in the market. When the 6800 Ultra and X800XT PE were still mysteries to people, I already had them in my possession. While I was mocking the people jealous of me for having both hard-to-find cards, deep inside I was crying because I had to live on crackers and water for two months. The 6800 Ultra and X800XT PE paper releases left many dedicated enthusiasts feeling bitter, and for those that did have access to purchasing these rare cards, we had to endure increased prices over the standard MSRP. The release of Nvidia's SLI did little to help the situation. The initial launch of PCI-E 6800 cards caused high demand, only to find the supply side to be lacking. However, Nvidia has responded to the complaints of angry enthusiasts and has successfully launched in reality their new 7800 GTX, based on the G70 core, on the same day it was announced. Gigabyte is one of the first companies to respond with an available retail 7800 GTX. Sun, 04 Sep, 2005 | 6 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail
XFX GeForce 7800 GTX Review [Review, Hardware.GamersHell]
In the last couple years, XFX has really catered to the enthusiast and hardcore gamer, and its commitment seems stronger than ever with its 7 Series offerings. Currently, XFX doesn't even offer a GeForce 7800 GTX at NVIDIA's stock speeds (430MHz core and 1.2GHz memory). Instead, the company offers a 7800 GTX that runs factory overclocked with the engine clock at 450MHz and memory clock at 1.25GHz and another one at 490MHz and 1.3GHz, respectively. Additionally, XFX is bundling the popular Battlefield 2 with one of the higher overclocked versions for a limited time. Sun, 04 Sep, 2005 | 13 Click(s) | Related: Reviews or Talks | Detail

Pushing G70 Further : XFX’s GeForce 7800 GTX Overclocked [Review, GamePC]
It's been two months since nVidia's GeForce 7800 GTX launched, instantly becoming is the un-challenged leader of the high-end graphics market. Without a product from ATI to rival the GeForce 7800 GTX, nVidia has been garnering lots of high-end sales and winning favor with many gamers, as the 7800 GTX provides excellent performance with very tolerable noise levels. While the 7800 GTX was fast to begin with, in the time that has passed since the original launch, cards are only getting faster - which certainly should worry ATI.
