On Saturday, we (me, wife, our friend, bro, bro-gf) went to the first anime festival in Wichita - Anime Festival Wichita 2005 - at the Orpheum. The best thing about the event was that we got to see an Inuyasha movie that we hadn’t seen yet. Other than that, it felt like a waste of $10 because of how crowded and unorganized it seemed (due mostly to the crowding). There wasn’t really much to do or see; there was a strong smell of BO around the vendor tables; the Orpheum isn’t very comfortable…

To be fair, I wasn’t expecting some uber-flawless-con, and it was Peter Pixie Productions first attempt at an anime event like this. Apparently, PPP didn’t quite realize how big this could be. Twice as many people as expected showed up! I do think it’s great that someone is bringing a con/festival to Wichita though, so PPP gets props for that. I’m sure it’s not an easy thing to do, so I wish them the best of luck next year. From the sound of it, PPP learned from its mistakes and will be improving it for 2006. I look forward to it. ^_^

And for all you con-goers out there, I suggest Right Guard or Arrid Extra Dry. Use it for the sake of olfactory senses everywhere!
