Dell XPS M170 review at laptopmag

Saturday, October 22nd, 2005

Laptopmag recently posted its outlook on Dell’s new XPS M170, which is basically a refreshed XPS Gen 2 laptop. If I were considering a desktop replacement notebook, I’d probably end up buying one of these bad boys. They offer the best and fastest in laptop technology in one of the lightest packages in its class at around 9 pounds. Most competing laptops weigh in at 3-4 pounds more!

HTPC move - Antec Overture to SilverStone LC16

Saturday, October 22nd, 2005

I moved all my home theater PC (HTPC) stuff over from the Antec Overture case to the much prettier and more component-friendly SilverStone LC16M yesterday. It turned out to be more stressful and time-consuming than I had hoped it would be. Much of it was my own fault though and no fault of the Overture [...]

Doom movie looks silly

Thursday, October 20th, 2005

From the previews I’ve seen, the Doom movie, which starts tomorrow and is based on the classic first-person shooter video game of the same name, looks pretty damn silly. Maybe it will be entertaining at least, but I think only diehard Doom fans are going to really like it.
The whole first-person view thing they are [...]

Thursday, October 20th, 2005

Who hasn’t wondered what the real cure for hiccups is? Holding your breath? Getting scared? Not sure those ever worked for me, but I have not tried this suggestion yet.

Funny article: “Jack Thompson Tried To Arrest My Boss”

Tuesday, October 18th, 2005

Went to slashdot and saw a post about some guy (Jack Thompson) trying to get the cops to arrest the Penny Arcade guys. That lead me to reading this article over at the gamepolitics livejournal, which then lead me to reading the article referenced in the title of this blogalicious entry. This article is from [...]

Microsoft says to avoid “Windows XP SP3 Preview Pack”

Tuesday, October 18th, 2005

Just read this article over at InformationWeek. I’m not sure why you’d want to mess with some unauthorized service pack to any software, even if it seems totally safe. It just doesn’t seem like a good idea to me. Here’s a bit from the article.

Microsoft warned users to stay away from an unauthorized “preview” of [...]

Now running Chitika eMiniMalls ads on main site

Monday, October 17th, 2005

You may notice some new ads on the main site (ReviewsHQ.com). These are Chitika’s somewhat new eMiniMalls ads.
eMiniMalls are actually quite useful and hopefully interesting to readers. They use Dealtime to search for specified products and then show them in a nice banner that allows you to check for best price, description, reviews, etc. [...]
